Due to the recent local cycling related events and member requests, I have arranged to teach a cycling safety course for Team Alameda and Alameda Velo members. There are two classes in the series. The First Class is an evening lecture which will be held in Lars Hansson's conference room. This class is a prerequisite to the Second Class on the road. If you have taken the lecture class previously from Casey Wilson you are not required to take it again to attend the on road class. Details are below.

July 15th 2010, 6PM to 9:30PM
Traffic Skills 101 Classroom Seminar
2504 Santa Clara Avenue
Alameda, CA 94501

Details: This course is designed for all levels of cyclists who ride their bikes on the roads or trails. Through lecture, discussion, power point, and video presentations, you'll learn (or maybe be refreshed) about California law and how cyclists fit in to it. You'll learn valuable information on crash avoidance, emergency maneuvers, and traffic negotiation; and you'll leave the class more confident in your ability to make independent and safe choices while riding with the group!

July 31st 2010, 10AM to 4PM
Traffic Skills 101 Street Seminar
2504 Santa Clara Avenue
Alameda, CA 94501

Details: This course is a 6 hour on-bike session to learn and practice the skills you need to be safer and more comfortable riding in many situations. The class covers general riding skills, flat tire repair & minor maintenance, plus hazard avoidance maneuvers & riding confidently in traffic. A Special treat, my assistant instructor is none other than our very own MacGyver – John McKion. He will teach the bike maintenance section and assist me with the on road instruction. If you attended a past Traffic Skills 101 Classroom Seminar, bring proof of completion.

Bicycle and helmet required
Must be at least 14 years old to attend.

Please RSVP here, or send an email to a d i s a l v o a t c y b e r d u d e d o t c o m
Space in the class is limited.

Anthony,

Thanks for arranging to teach these courses. I already have taken Casey's classroom seminar so I would like to take the on-bike course.
