The trail between MLK Shoreline and Tidewater avenue - along the estuary where it opens up to San Leandro Bay - has been closed for construction of a boathouse, and the only detour - even on weekends - is to go out to the frontage road along 880. I wrote to Robert Raburn, ED of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, to see if we could improve the situation. Here is his response:
"Hi John, I will visit the area to investigate early next week. This is a route of regional significance. Closure without a signed and convenient detour is not acceptable. After I gather information, I hope you will join me in making needed appeals to Lee Huo at the ABAG Bay Trail, EBRPD Director John Sutter, and Jason Patton, Oakland Bicycle Program Manager. -Robert Raburn, Executive Director" I hope TA folks will join any effort to get better access.... johnn -------------------- Biking since before biking was cool
